The second round of this year’s European Gaelic Football Championships took place last weekend in the lovely city of Vienna Austria with much at stake towards the naming of overall champions in men’s and ladies football.
After Round 1 in Copenhagen last month, 2011 Men’s Championship winners Guernsey Gaels were leading the way followed by Luxembourg, while in the Ladies, five in row European bidders Belgium A, held top spot but rivals Holland were snapping at their heals in second spot, and in the Men’s Shield competition, Malmo were the form team followed by Copenhagen.
There were 24 teams in action at the Sportzentrum complex last Saturday and European GAA PRO Brian Clerkin gives us this report.
Gothenburg GAA is part of the Scandic Region of the European County Board along with Copenhagen, Malmö, Stockholm and Oslo. The club was founded in 2004 by Billy Finn and Kevin Moorhouse. New members are always welcome.
