Dubai Duty Free Gulf Gaelic Games, March 22nd 2013

Dear All
Apologies for the group email, but I would like to formally extend an invitation to you all to take part in the 2013 Dubai Duty Free Gulf Gaelic Games to be held here in Dubai on the weekend of Friday March 22nd next. I have attached the official invitation and flyer for the competition, and with the strength of GAA in mainland Europe expanding every year, it would be fantastic to have some European teams at next years event.
We have had the pleasure of hosting teams from Ireland, UK, mainland Europe, South Africa, India and Asia as well as the Middle East, and I would like to add more European teams that the one we have hosted in the past 5 years.
The main bullet points to note are as follows:
  • The tournament will be held on Friday March 22nd in the Emirates Sevens Complex here in Dubai. The GGG has grown tremendously in past years and we had over 600 players this March. We hope this trend continues in '13. The Sevens is a world class facility, which has impressed every travelling team we have been fortunate enough to host.
  • The format in all codes is 9 players a side, from a panel of 12 and the games are 7 minutes per half.
  • Accommodation varies wildly in the city from 7 star luxury to much more affordable accommodation. We can cater to your every need. We have the experience now of hosting this for many years and I have an excellent team in place that will help make your stay in Dubai truly memorable. Basic accommodation can be found for as little as €30 pp sharing per night.
  • Currently flights start at approx €450 ex  Sweden / Norway / Finland and ideally you would fly on Wednesday and back the Sunday. Flights into Dubai or Abu Dhabi will be fine as they are close to each other.
  • The standard of Gaelic Games has progressed to a very competitive level, and it surprises visiting teams just how skilful, determined and tough the players here are, so you can expect a good challenge across the codes.
  • This is a unique chance to play against teams from other parts of the world that you may never experience again. This is a huge attraction for teams coming to Dubai, not just the great weather and craic here, but on a GAA level, this is one competition that is unlike every other.
  • We will have inter-county referee's from Ireland on duty to ensure the quality and safety of play while maximising the enjoyment for each player at all times.
Please have a look at the attached and come back to me with any queries you may have.
Kind Regards,
Paddy

  1. Sounds like a fun trip - I guess if anyone was interested it would be a combined/European team.. I was reading/listening about these lads during the week. http://www.gaelicsportscast.com/2012/10/14/437-middle-east-gaa-season-up-and-running/
